  FIVE FOODS TO AVOID

Not all foods are good for you. Some food items have zero nutritional value, are difficult to digest and some others even add high amounts of toxins to your body. The list of hazardous foods not only includes processed "junk food," but also foods that are considered staples of the American diet.

If you are on a weight loss diet then you should strictly avoid such types of foods. If you cannot give up your cravings entirely you can at least try to limit their intake. In this way you will never gain weight and feel good, too.

Here is a list of five foods that you should strictly avoid in order to maintain a healthy weight.

Doughnuts

Doughnuts are fried, made up of white flour and trans fat and is loaded with sugar. Most Americans include doughnuts in their breakfast. But nutritionally speaking eating doughnuts is not a very healthy way to start off your day.

On an average doughnuts give you around 250 calories. This includes mostly sugar and few other nutrients.

Doughnuts will not keep you full for a long time and you will soon start feeling hungry all over again.

Soda, Fruit Juice and Caffeine

Whether it is the regular variety or diet soda neither is a very healthy choice for you. Recent reports indicate that soda consumption can lead to obesity, tooth decay as well as osteoporosis. Soda again is loaded with sugar which will suppress your appetite for healthy food and pave the way for nutritional deficiencies.

An average American drinks an estimated 56 gallons of soft drinks per year. A can of soda contains around 150 calories- approximately 50mg of caffeine, 10 teaspoonfuls of sugar, sulphites and lots of artificial food colors. The diet varieties are no good either as they are full of harmful artificial sweeteners like aspartame.
Fruit juice contains eight teaspoonfuls of sugar per eight- ounce glass. This fruit sugar called fructose is as harmful for your body as regular table sugar. This can cause a major increase in your insulin levels. Commercial orange juices are contaminated with mold from damaged fruit that are processed. So if you drink the commercial variety regularly then you will be exposed to these mold toxins. This does not mean that you should avoid eating fruit altogether. Fresh fruits which are whole and intact moderate the release of fructose into the bloodstream as well as moderate the insulin release. However if you are overweight and have high blood pressure or blood sugar it is best to avoid most fruits.
