With Christmas and New Year round the corner it is easy enough for you to put on a pound or two. In this period you will simply love to gorge on extra calories in the form of jelly doughnuts, frosted cookies or chocolates. You can take some walks in the fresh winter air. Moreover balance the sweetness with healthy choices like salads and fresh fruits and vegetables. In this way you can have fun and at the same time maintain your weight.
Plan your tactics during the holidays beforehand. Think of what you should eat, how to say no to those foods that you would not prefer eating and some fun ways to enjoy the season without concerning food. The more realistic is your plan the more likely you are to stick to it.

-Take a walk with the entire family before or after a meal during holidays. In this way you will enjoy the company of your near and dear ones as well as the food you eat.
-There are usually one or two special vegetarian dishes in most parties. Just try them out for they are a very healthy option. They will provide you with the extra nutrients that you might have missed by just eating meat and carb-based foods.
-Apart from eating, holidays also mean a shopping spree for you. While you go out for shopping during this time of the year remember to park your car far away from the entrance of the mall. Also use the stairs instead of the elevator. You may get rid of a few pounds this way.
Holiday celebrations do offer a host of temptations but if you make these substitutions in your way of life during this time of the year then you will go a long way in having a healthier season.
